In honor of
healthy blogs, I wanted to share my current favorite smoothie with you guys. I've had several emails from friends asking me for more healthy recipes, so here goes! I've been tinkering around with this recipe for about a year now and
this green smoothie is hands down my favorite. It's sweet and tangy and gives you instant energy. I swear it's magic. Place all of these ingredients in a high-powered blender in the order that they're written, with the lemon juice going in first. Blend until smooth. The kind of kale that you use really makes a difference. I LOVE Lacinato and Dinosaur kale. Happy drinking! -

ReplyDeleteI am going to try this. Promise. Your breakfast of greek yogurt, pb and peach preserves helped me lose 15 lbs this past year (swear I ate it everyday for 8 months). It made my 2011 highlights too :)

Deletemy green smoothies are usually the spinach/banana/pb/oats/honey variety but this sounds really good. thanks for sharing it, i'm definitely going to try it.
ReplyDeletelet me know what you think mina!
DeleteLesley!
ReplyDeleteQuestion---in a Vitamix, how long do you blend this? Jay and I put an apple in our smoothie yesterday and it made the whole smoothie frothy..kind of like drinking apple sauce. Is this normal, or did we just not blend it long enough?
Thanks for the recipe and inspiration!
Brittany
hey girl. puttin' that thing to use. i like it.
Deletei have had apples get frothy before and the key to this not happening is to make sure and put all of the ingredients in as listed and use your tamp to get them blended pretty good before you amp it up to high. this smoothie should be creamy with no air bubbles or frothiness. keep playing around with it and you'll see what works. :)
I'm sold. I just made this for lunch and my four year old, who normally shuns all things green, ended up drinking half of mine. This is definitely going to become a staple in our house. Thank you for the recipe!
