Even though we've had some highs in the eighties, I am in full fall mode. I want nothing to do with summer. I'm ready to wrap myself in my favorite cozies: sweaters, scarves, and wool socks. I love the smell of spice and only have one use for my crock pot (this chili) so I thought it would be amazing to use it to fill our house with the warm smell of cloves, cinnamon, apple, and orange. A jolt of fall into our seasonally challenged home. We also decided since we had everything on hand, to whip up some hot apple cider - and then I started sweating and we had to turn the air down.

    1. LOL! I don't like that word either. Funny:)

    2. When I was growing up, we had a wood stove in the kitchen as our source of heat in the winter (how rustic, right?) and every winter my mom would always have a cast iron kettle on the wood stove and she'd put cinnamon sticks and cloves in the water. It always filled the house with a subtle wintery feeling. LOVE the smell of autumn.

      1. that sounds so perfectly romantic and rustic. now, if only the weather would cooperate!

    3. Wish there was smellivision! Sounds Wonderful!

    4. I swear I can smell it just looking at it! That's a very cool idea: air fresheners always smell like air freshener. Can't beat real cinnamon.
