I've been reading your surveys. Thank you! Luckily most of you have said you want to hear more about home + design. So glad to hear that because that's pretty much where my brain lives right now when I have time to think about things other than laundry, sick babes, and what the heck we're going to have for dinner. Thank God I married a man that enjoys cooking. We had carrot ginger soup last night and it was so perfect for this cold + wet weather. Speaking of cold(s), looks like I'm going to have to call the doctor. Phoebe has a cough and it's making me really sad. I googled it and the scariest things came up so I'll be calling the nurses first thing this am.

On a happier note, I am pretty much crazy for awnings right now. I love the ones with scalloped edges and stripes. I fell in love with them when I saw this incredible house and garden in Cottage Living years ago. Our house that we're renovating had awnings, but they were hunter green and scallop-less. Had to go. I think I'm leaning towards black and white (or maybe grey and white). Also, waivering between Dallas Retro and San Francisco . Thoughts?

  1. sorry the babe is sick. my three year old has an end of january birthday and had a cold at four months old. i remember the nurse saying that all the newborns were like this at that time of year. they suggested dry mist humidifier and nasal Baby Ayr saline nose drops. I have metal, scalloped awnings on my 1940's cottage. I love the look of awnings..they do add character, however, i find they make the inside of the house darker, too.

  2. That's such a hard decision! Both awning styles are beautiful!

  3. i meant to say she had a cold at four WEEKS old, not months!
