LOSING THE BABY WEIGHT

I've tried to talk myself out of doing this. My friends looked at me like I was crazy, my husband asked if I was sure, but here I am anyways! I'm tired of making excuses for not taking care of myself and I wanted to encourage other new moms who are in the same position: tired of wearing ill fitting jeans, constantly pulling their pants up to hide their um muffin top, having nothing to wear but maternity and stretchy pants. The final nudge came when I was reading this article in Self Magazine about Gwyneth Paltrow's secrets for looking amazing. It's not going to be easy the first few weeks, but I'm in it to win it. My goal is to lose the extra 30 pounds that I gained during my pregnancy by this summer. Who's in?!
I know that everyone's post partum journey is different. But, if you're like me and nursing and surprised that the weight doesn't just "fly off!" Then, join me. I'm going to be sharing my progress each week and documenting my weight loss. Gulp. Each week I'll share my stats and what I'm doing, sample menus, and how I'm feeling. What better way to hold myself accountable? If I make my mini goals then I'll reward myself with something fun like a pedicure or cute workout clothes. I'd love to create a support group for other moms (or anyone who's looking to lose weight!). This won't become a weight loss blog, just a once a week or every couple of weeks check in until I reach my goal: THIRTY POUNDS.

This week I'm going to focus on detoxing from processed foods and sugar. It's too much for me to focus on trying to do everything at once. I'm going to start with food and then work my way in to some sort of exercise routine. For me, this is the way to go. If you want to incorporate exercise right away... be my guest. Have a great weekend. Go ahead and indulge while you can!

  3. Our babies were born I think a week or so apart (le boy will be 3 months on Saturday) I too just thought "I'm nursing, the weight will fly off"- no ma.am! This is my first child and I told myself I wouldn't put any expecations on my body. I know it's going to take hard work, dedication and discipline to lose this extra weight. I personally can't wait until the day I fit back into my jeans! It will happen, right?

I've started walking (when the Georgia weather permits it) but I'm looking for more to do...so I guess I am in! Here's to losing 20-30 pounds and getting back into those pre-pregnancy jeans comfortably!

  10. I think it's awesome you're doing this! Tracy Anderson, Gwyneth's trainer, has some great workout DVDs. I've tried her mat workout and love it! I'm currently pregnant and using her pregnancy series. So I definitely recommend checking her out! And I'll look forward to reading tips for getting rid of post-baby weight after our baby is born! Good luck!

  12. yay! This is so exciting! I started reading your blog because of your healthy maternity series before I was pregnant with baby number 2. Im not due til June but I will be cheering you on until then. I had to consume a lot to keep up with breast feeding my first so it took a long time for me to get my weight back down. Love this blog!

  13. I've been following you for a few reasons but also because our children were born about the same time. I also thought it would all just fall off because I'm breastfeeding but the weight hasn't moved. I'd love to join you in this...I'm determined. Good luck!
