Girls Night Idea: Favorite Things Party

Last night I checked a "girls night" off my summer bucket list. My friend Dorie invited me and a few friends over to her lovely home for a night of wine, girl talk, and sharing. I had the best time!

Here's the idea:

You bring five of the same "favorite things." Each item has to be under $6 and the total less than $30. Everyone then explains why they chose them and you end up going home with five different favorite things. So fun! I brought these.

Other favorites included: two buck chuck, these face wipes, this lip butter and the prettiest day lily.

Other things I would have brought:

  • Method hand soap (my fave!)
  • a succulent
  • makeup brushes
  • a fun magazine
  • pretty wrapping paper
  • gift card to coffee shop

The list could go on and on. I'd love to hear what you would bring! Have you been to a party like this? Dorie also had ice breakers: "What's your favorite date night?" "What's your favorite thing to do in your 'free time'?" "Favorite flower?" It was a fun way to get to know some of the other girls better.

Happy weekend!

  1. I went to one of these last summer and loved it! We had a $20 limit. I brought Dr. Bronner's soap. I came home with Philosophy body wash (some tyoe of cookie scent), Old Navy yoga pants (I love them so much I've now purchased about 8 additional pairs), stain remover and foot cream (she did two small things b/c the store was out of what she really wanted), a warm fuzzy throw, and something else I can't for the life of me remember now. We should plan one for Christmastime when Claire is home! *Maybe* I'll be able to host by then???

  2. This is a wonderful idea! I would maybe do a copy of my favorite book. You can get such good prices on multiple copies in Amazon.

  3. Precious idea! Aveeno makes a lavender bubble bath that I adore. I'd pair it with a bottle of two buck chuck :) My recent favorites are these precious sketches of Jesus with children by Jane Keaton. They are super inexpensive, like $5 for a 5x7 and are such a sweet reminder that He loves us. And I'd probably have to bring a few slices of strawberry cake from west cobb diner. TO DIE FOR. Jesus, sweets, wine, bath. About sums it up. Now, if only the diner delivered during nap time...

  4. I'd have such a hard time choosing one thing to bring! Maybe the Dr. Teal's lavender "sleep well" epsom salts. Love those (and they really work!). Possibly Jordana's Best Lash Extreme mascara. So cheap and so good. What a fun idea. Micaela did something similar recently, but they spent more and brought only one thing, so everyone left with one person's favorite. If that makes sense. Love you!

  6. Girls night out is the best idea of enjoyment. My sister is organizing a fashion show of all the designer outfits of her outlet at one of the spacious San Francisco venues in a couple of weeks. Wishing to get positive reviews from all the guests.
