GETTING READY FOR BABY/08

With my due date four weeks away, I'm starting to prepare everyone's bags to keep in my car. I'll need one for me, Sam, and Matilda and of course our newest little Graham. While you don't need a ton at the hospital for your baby (they supply blankets, diapers, etc), I like to bring some of our own things. Of course you have the obligatory "coming home" outfit, but these are a few other extras that I like to have on hand:

  • nature baby kimono jacket
  • nature baby booties
  • nature baby knot hat
  • under the nile leggings
  • aden and anais bamboo swaddling blankets
  • kicky pants bamboo gown
  • organic hand mitt covers
  • dwell studio dot diaper bag

    For the hospital:
I really love gowns for the hospital because it's so easy to change their diapers and swaddle them without any hinderance. They are also super easy to get on and off. I also like to bring my own swaddling blankets that are soft and comfortable, like these bamboo ones above. They also double as a great nursing cover and car seat blanket!

When I'm helping people pick out "going home" outfits here are a few things I look for:
Make sure the size is newborn. There really is a difference between newborn and 0-3 months. For the first few weeks, newborn usually fits best. I really love a kimono top (don't have to pull it over their head and it doesn't irritate the umbilical cord), as well as footed pants so you're not dealing with socks that may or may not stay on. I also love the sweet, cotton knot hats because they are snug and warm. Booties are just a little extra warmth for their tiny feet. Lastly, don't forget hand mitts, those little nails can be razor sharp.

Did I leave anything out? What are your favorites for those first few days?
