Being Afraid of Failure

Failure. Such a big, scary word. I was driving Matilda to school today and this message (below) from Ahnold about his six rules of success came on. I love a good motivational speech or self help book. My favorite book genre! I think so often I don't do things because of how they'll be perceived. Blogging can be a scary thing because you are putting your life, heart and soul out into the universe (regardless of how many people see it). At Alt I was so nervous to go and introduce myself to people I admire because I was afraid I wasn't cool enough or whatever but really who cares? If you're doing what you love, you should feel proud because it takes guts.

I can't remember who said it but at one of the panels they discussed taking an idea and running with it, even if it's not perfect, share it because if you don't so many of your ideas will die. I loved this notion and think that it is so important to roll with momentum. I also think it's amazing to give other people's ideas air, to help push the people around you to follow their dreams. I got the nicest note yesterday from a friend of mine and it was so thoughtful and loving and enriching to me. So often we get so caught up in ourselves that we forget to take time to encourage. I'm thankful for people like my friend Lora for that reminder.

I wanted to share this in hopes that it would pump you up today to go out and do amazing things. Sometimes the smallest things mean the most. Like Nike says... just do it.
