My Morning Routine
I’ve messed around with my morning routine quite a bit but this schedule tends to work the best for me.
I start by bricking my phone the night before - I have most apps bricked as well as texts - nothing like starting your day off with bad news or a wonky text.
First thing I do is turn on some soft jazz, I’m loving this playlist and grab my journal , drink some tea, and brain dump whatever mess is in there for three pages - the key here is to not judge or sensor yourself just let it all flow out. I got this idea from this book which made such an impact on me in high school and I love circling back to it often.
After that I do a simple Bible study. For Christmas Sam got me this Bible in a Year set which I love! It’s three chapters of reading followed by a page and a half summary and three reflective questions. Just enough time to recenter me before the girls are up but not overwhelming.
I spend from 6:30-7:15 chatting with the girls and helping them get ready. I’ll also get started on breakfast - high protein. Most days it’s bacon and eggs honestly and then 20 squats after which is something new for me!! It’s a part of the reset I’m doing and I’m loving the community. I also try and drink 40 oz of water.
I might spend a bit of time on Pinterest or chatting with Sam and then aim to be on my walking pad by 8 am. Right now I really love walking for about 45 min blasting music (love using these headphones to block out the whole world) and sweating it out and following it with 15 min of strength training which can feel like an hour as I’m out of shape and getting back into it.
Then I shower and get fully dressed and this sets the tone for the rest of my day. I can feel a DRASTIC difference when I start the day scrolling or on my phone. Once I’m fully dressed and feeling good and gotten about an hour of real work in I will unbrick my phone.
